The landscape for developing a primary learning platform
Contributing authors : Miles Berry and Mike Partridge

The primary-style approach to learning platforms, and CPD, will, of course, have much in common with that for other phases of education. However, primary education typically would have a number of characteristics that might be less common in secondary schools, such as an emphasis on providing a rich and stimulating learning environment, a belief that children learn best through experience, a tradition of teachers producing their own resources, emphases on creativity and social learning and a tradition of learning through play and experiment. We have sought to reflect these characteristics in the learning landscape / community of practice model of CPD that we offer, the key elements of which are shown below. These elements are discussed in greater detail in paragraphs 11-32 of our report "Effective Learning Platforms - Primary education, personalised learning and social networks".
